[The Editor] This was said on Facebook on 1/21/17: “Many people are saying, enough is enough, Trump is president so stop all this negative talk and all these marches. So I thought I’d offer my opinion on WHY the talk continues and the marches are many.
This continues, first of all, because more than half the people in the US can’t believe that the US voted in a person with such immoral character. I say that the USA voted him in because the people clearly didn’t, the USA’s discriminatory policies voted him in. The USA has always had discriminatory policies, from slavery, to the black code, and now with so many more minorities in the USA, electoral college voting system does the trick.
Today thousands of people are expected to emerge on DC for the Women’s March, along with hundreds of thousands of people in the United States and around the world. They are marching to raise awareness of women’s rights and other civil rights they fear could be under threat under Donald Trump’s presidency.
Here’s the thing, when you have someone at the helm with such low moral standards, it’s scary to think about what’s to come. I like some of the things he says and I hope that he will do some of the things, but what scares me is, how he’s going to do those things. When he talks about jobs, I can’t help to remember him discriminating against blacks in housing and employment in the past, so is he talking about top floor jobs for whites and basement jobs for others? Also his past shows that he doesn’t care about small businesses because he filed bankruptcy 4 times leaving so many small businesses with millions of dollars of lost income. When he talks about crime, he’s been very clear that he blames crime on blacks and Latinos, so does he go after blacks and Hispanics to put as many of us in jail as he can? And when he talks about women, including his own daughter, as pieces of ass and brags about being able to just walk up to pretty women and kiss them and grab their genitals whether they like it or not, does that mean that sexual assault is now OK? These are the things that I, and millions of others worry about. This is why there are so many walks and talks today and for many days to come.
Those are just a few things that come to mind just off the bat but Donald Trump has done and said so many immoral things in his past, that I consider him an immoral person. It would be nice if I could say that I believe those things were just in his past and he’s changed but he obviously has not changed.
On top of that, his pledge to put only America first, really scares me. Yes, we want to protect America and America’s values but I don’t think Donald Trump has the same values as most Americans.”
